Guest blogging and SEO - How are they related?

Image
To be completely honest, I’ve never been that interested in blogging until recently. So as a new blogger, I didn’t realize how important blogging can be to search engine optimization (SEO). There are a few different aspects of blogging that can improve one’s SEO, including personal blogs, blog commenting and guest blogs. Since the topic of blogging is so vast, I’m going to focus specifically on guest blogging and how it can affect SEO. Guest blogging – What is it? What exactly is guest blogging you ask? Well, it is exactly as it sounds. A blogger writes a post for another blog or Website to be featured on that said blog or Website. Timothy Carter (2020) explains guest blogging as “the practice of writing and posting content on another’s blog or website in order to gain great exposure, referral traffic, leads and backlinks for SEO.” Relation to SEO Guest blogging is considered an off-page optimization technique that can help improve a sites SEO...

Behind the world of Bliss: A look into the skincare’s ecommerce site

Image
Skincare and beauty products seems to be more popular now than ever before. Although, I’m not sure if that’s because I’m at the age where I should start caring about this or if it’s just because they are more popular. In order to keep myself calm and feeling young, I’m going to go with the fact that these products are more talked about now! With that being said, Bliss has been a skincare company that I have known about for a couple of years now. The bright and fun colored packaging was what caught my eye in Target one day. I decided to do some research of my own and was brought to Bliss’s ecommerce Website where I found loads of information about its products. But since this blog is all about web analytics and SEO, let’s look at how Bliss uses both of those to monitor visitor traffic and customers! (Wikipedia, 2020) What is Bliss?           Bliss was founded in 1996 in New York City’s SoHo. The company “ignited th...

Semrush: The key to online visibility

Image
Up until recently, I’ve had very limited knowledge about Web analytics and search engine optimization (SEO). While I feel more comfortable with these topics than I previously did, there is still more I can learn. This is where Semrush enters. Semrush has been a complete eye-opener to the world of SEO. I was introduced to this program less than two weeks ago and now have a basic understanding as to why so many marketers utilize this tool. Since not everyone is familiar with this program, I am looking forward to sharing my experience and new found knowledge with it in the upcoming weeks. Let’s begin! What is SEMrush?      Semrush is “an all-in-one tool suite for improving online visibility and discovering marketing insights” (Semrush, 2021) . According to Semrush, marketers working in the following services would benefit from using the program: Search engine optimization (SEO) Pay-per-click (PPC) Social media marketing Keyword research Competitive rese...

Turning new visitors into returning visitors

Image
New vs. returning visitors             What exactly classifies a visitor as either new or returning? As one might have guessed, a new visitor is someone that has never landed on a site. A returning visitor is an individual that has returned to a Website after visiting once before. While there are exceptions to these definitions (which will be explained later on), these are the most basic explanations for each type of visitor. These metrics are considered part of the the visitor characterization category of Web metrics. Google Analytics             Tracking visitors (both new and returning) can be done using Web analytics, most commonly Google Analytics (GA). While the basic definition of these metrics seem self-explanatory, Google Analytics has more specific qualifications for each. New visitors qualify as anyone who has never been on a Website before, according to ...
